CAS stands for creativity, activity, service. It is one of the three essential components of the IB Diploma Programme. CAS is all about continuity for 18 months. At the end of it, students are well equipped to embark onto the next phase of their lives.
During this academic year students began their CAS journey by going into the beautiful locales of Coorg. They were involved in a range of activities like rafting, making a marshmallow, trekking, etc. Some of the students also embarked on an innovative experience “The Elementary Evolution Club” at school, wherein they have experienced warmth and love from the little ones by helping them with their lessons or doing art work for them or playing games with them in the sandpit area. ‘Verdentum’, an online non-profit organisation and a maiden venture of CAS at CIS helped the students interact with students from other countries and create a project to save the earth.
The CAS students organised 3 drives during this year “The Joy of Giving”, “Xmas Drive” and “The Nepal Drive”. The proceeds of these were sent to the Jammu/Kashmir flood victims via GOONJ, to the victims of the Nepal Earthquake via the Nepal Embassy and to charities like the Sambhav foundation for the disabled children, Indira Gandhi Academy for the Sri Lankan refugees.
This year has been an enriching experience for both the students and me. Together, this journey to explore beyond the horizon will continue.
