Encouraging all students to enjoy reading CIS librarians help students and teacher find the resources that they need for success. Learners are active participants using the library to find books for pleasure reading, printing posters, and researching essay topics.
Teaching and learning are based on a process of continual interaction in which the library, teacher and student are partners. The library aims to provide access to a wide variety of print and non-print learning resources that have been carefully selected with the educational needs of our students in mind. Our librarians support students and help them master the learning and research skills necessary to use these materials effectively.
The secondary library at CIS is the meeting place for students, for parents and for teachers researching topics and looking for new ideas. Although, there are no regularly scheduled library classes, the librarians do lead lessons for Extended Essay students. They also host middle school classes to teach media skills periodically throughout the year. Students are instructed on how to access and use the wide array of online resources, our periodicals, and fiction and non-fiction books.
Each library has quiet corners for reading, wifi and computers, work tables for group work, and lots of space for collaborative activities.
